New VHIT Test For Vertigo Diagnosis

In recent years, the equilibrium system has become very important in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. These new developments enable us to easily solve the diseases of the equilibrium system, causing vertigo. At the same time, these developments greatly increased the success rates in the treatments. The examination phase is very important to treat vertigo. VNG (videonystagmography) and Caloric test left their place to VHIT test which can clearly diagnose the disease. Yet, this VHIT (Video Head Impulse Test) is being used in very restricted units in our country.
Many people who have vertigo but have not been treated for years are applying to us. In fact, they lose their years for diseases that can be taken under control and treated in a short time of a week. Another concern is that they accept their diseases not to be recovered and turn their lives into a nightmare by isolating themselves. They continue their lives with vertigo by regarding the opinions correct, received from physicians who doesn't have a comprehensive knowledge. They are mistakenly and unconsciously maneuvered without being properly diagnosed and cant get rid of their diseases.
Did you know that the misdiagnosis in equilibrium-related vertigo is between 40 and 50%? This means that half of the patient with vertigo complaints are misdiagnosed and subjected to incorrect treatments. So, you should firstly investigate it if your vertigo complaints have not been treated. If physician offers no treatment in the scope of your investigations, you should definitely change your doctor and get a second view. Doctors make your examinations and ask for lots of tests. This is important in the diagnosis of vertigo. However, if tests are not able to determine your disease, you will not be diagnosed. Thus, introducing advanced diagnostic methods makes the diagnose easier, so the treatment will also be easy.
VHIT, one of the balance tests today, is very important in the diagnosis of vertigo. Video head impulse test (VHIT) applied in our unit provides high analysis capability of the inner ear balance system. The system enables to pinpoint the crux of the problem with the help of a detailed computer analysis system and glasses with high resolution video camera. The most important feature of the video head impulse test is the possibility of evaluating and analysing the semicircular channels, of which three are present in each ear. Lateral semicircular channels, left and right posterior and anterior channels are evaluated individually and 3-D graphics are obtained. Semicircular channels are found in the inner ear and act as a water gauge in each position of the body, sending information and stimuli to brain about the body position. Brain stabilizes the body by adjusting muscle and posture of the body, with these information.
